Spark After School classes just might be the best part of the day! Our small classes accommodate the interest of each individual artist while teaching valuable skills. Students have fun exploring, problem solving and creating on canvas, in clay and through drawing. We have a wide variety of classes to inspire all kids.

MONDAYS (September 24 – November 12)
Push the boundaries of your imagination and discover the joys of creating 3 dimensional art. Explore the many properties of clay, paper, fabric and more and watch your art take on many forms.

TUESDAYS (September 25 – November 13)

3:30 – 4:30  Adventures in Art (Grades K-3)

 

A little bit of this, a little bit of that. This class provides students the opportunity to work with a variety of mediums and explore new ideas. We’ll create fun 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional projects in an open and creative environment. Materials may include paint, collage, clay, reclaimed materials and more.

WEDNESDAYS (September 26 – November 14)

3:30-4:30 Zine Making (Grades 4-8)

 

During this class we’ll learn how to create handmade mini comic books/zines (small size magazines). We’ll cover different formats, subject matter, and materials. Throughout the session, students will take home their own zines as well as a photocopies of each classmate’s zine. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you have tools you like to draw with!

THURSDAYS (September 27 – November 15)

3:30 – 4:30  Drawing for Grades 1-3

This class focuses on providing students with the time, space, and encouragement to continue developing their drawing skills. During this class, students are guided through the process of visualizing their ideas and will learn skills that meet them at their level of interest and ability. Materials will include artist grade pens, pencils, watercolors, pastels, and markers on a variety of high quality papers.

THURSDAYS (September 27- November 15)

4:45 – 6:00  Drawing for Grades 4-6

This class is designed to meet children at a variety of drawing levels. Confidence is built by practicing skills they know and developing new ones such as line, contour, shading, color theory and more. We’ll create both observational and imaginative drawings in fun and creative ways using a variety of mediums including pencils, pens, paint and pastels.
